The snow that arrived on the fells over Easter left a scattering on the high tops by the end of the holiday week. Mel and Hugh had a good walk up Scafell from Eskdale, taking in Lords Rake and Mickledore on the way down.
Below left shows Mel on the way down the second dip, with the fallen stone delicately balanced at the top of the second rise, and below right shows Hugh and Sally on Mickledore, with the sunlit Wasdale Mosedale behind.

Mid-week Walk - Farleton

The route had been planned by Mick, but due to the continued problems with his back & hip sustained in Morocco, he asked Roger to lead the walk. After coffee at the Hideaway cafe near Crooklands roundabout, 11 members set off and walked via Aikbank and Newbiggin to join the Limestone Link. Taking advantage of a wall to shelter from the keen east wind, the group had lunch before heading west towards Home Fell and then north for the summit of Farleton Fell. The return was made via the hamlet of Farleton and the canal. An excellent low level walk: thanks to Mick for planning it, and Roger for leading it.

Below left shows the group on the summit of Farleton Fell: from left to right - Margaret Atkinson, Mary (in front), Val, Clare (in front), Margaret Cooper, Fred, Roger, Jean (in front), Brett, and Colin, with Hugh taking the photo.
Below right shows some of the group heading back along the canal with Farleton Fell on the left.

Best wishes to Cheryl and Jason as they bid farewell to Kendal for a new life in Derbyshire, though they will remain members of the club
